Ty Young will be joining Lou Ott Baseball in the fall of 2017.
He has experience at the collegiate and professional level and is also experienced in education of baseball, having worked at All Star Baseball Academy out of Philadelphia since May 2016.
Young originally hails from the Philadelphia area and attended Malvern Prep, one of the premier high school baseball organizations in the country. Young was 1st team All-league and All-state player while at Malvern.
From 2011-2013, he was a standout player at the University of Louisville under Dan McDonnell and helped the team win 2 conference championships and a College World Series berth in 2013. Young was one of the leading hitters at U of L until he was drafted in the 7th round to the Tampa Bay Rays, where he spent the next two years in their minor league system. He also played with the Quebec Capitales in the CanAm Independent Baseball League where he was one of their leading hitters and helped the team reach the semifinals of the playoffs.
Some of Ty’s strengths include the technical side of hitting (mechanics of the swing) and the mental aspect of the game (hitting approach and strategy) that he is able to explain to young players to help their game reach the next level.
“I’m proud to be the newest member of Lou Ott Baseball and can’t wait to develop relationships with players to help them succeed on and off the field.”
